Why Venice calls us

Quilters here are serious, and the machines show it in worn feed dogs and tension assemblies packed with lint. On the water side, sun and salt do steady damage to machines that live in garages and boat sheds, and the covers themselves need restitching every few seasons. Venice is 72 miles from us, which is a real drive but a workable one for a portable machine. For a mounted canvas machine, call (727) 321-9344 and we will come down instead.

Questions from Venice customers

How do I know if a cover is worth restitching or should be replaced?

Look at the fabric, not the stitching. If the acrylic still has body and the coating is intact, restitching is usually worth it. If the fabric tears when you pull it between your fingers, new thread will just tear new holes.

Is 72 miles too far to bring a home machine?

It is about an hour and twenty-five minutes each way, so plan it as a trip rather than an errand. Come Monday through Friday between 9 and 5, and bring the foot control and a fabric sample so the visit is productive.

Is my machine worth repairing?

Often, yes. Machines built years ago were made with metal parts and they last. Many of the ones we see just need a good cleaning, fresh oil and an adjustment. We look at it first and tell you what it needs and what it costs. If the repair costs more than the machine is worth, we say so and you decide.

Do you charge for an estimate?

No. Estimates are free. Bring the machine to the shop, we will look at it, and we will tell you the cost before any billed work is done.

Do I need an appointment?

No. Come by Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and drop the machine off. If you would rather call first, the number is (727) 321-9344.

Is your machine giving you trouble?

Call and tell us what it is doing. The estimate is free and you do not need the model number.
